This is a desirable item that is efficient and easy to use. Special attention is needed to avoid having the loading lid closed while in use or a nasty jam will result. The coin meter is nice but of little value unless you are sorting large volumes of coins. All in all, an improvement over the cheaper model we had.

I purchased this machine from a catalog (hammacher schammler) at higer cost than amazon because of a gift certificate I was trying to use up. I recieved the unit in good working order and it malfunctioned after about one week. I counted about $1000 worth of coins saved over the years. I recieved a new one in about two days and this one didn't work right from the start. I think it is pure junk!!! Naturally its made in China. I would definitely NOT recommend buying it. It's more cost effective to use a coinstar machine despite the 9% fee.

I bought this machine for my soda route, It worked perfectly at first, but then started to jam up, mostly the dimes because they are the lightest, they just didn't come down the ramp. When I opened the machine I discovered that the ramps are made out of the same grey plastic that appears on the outside of the machine, when the coins slide down it they scratch it and eventually they just won't slide down anymore. I cut out the plastic finger type things that are supposed to slow down the coins and this worked for awhile but now the dimes stick again. To prevent this I cut four strips of thin galvanized sheet metal, drill holes for the optical sensors at the top and glue down with very thin layer of jb weld. Make sure you clamp it flat against the plastic. Clean strips every $1000.00 or so. This stoped the coins from jamming up in the ramps in my machine. This upgrade will keep this machine going for a long time because the other peices down seem to be wearing as quickly. Oh and if a dollar coin gets in there you can pick up the machine and tilt it back and forth until you can center it in the hopper hole when you get it centered flip the machine upside down very quickly, with any luck the dollar falls on the floor.

Excellent product--sure am glad I bought it. If it broke tomorrow, I would be mad, but would buy another the same day.

Wonderful machine! Made with good quality materials and it works great for my business needs. I know it will last me a long time. I made the mistake of getting one of those cheesy plastic machines at Office Depot for $50. Needless to say, it didn't last long. You need to invest in a solid machine and not buy one of these dinky things.
One slight annoyance: when the 4 tubes are full, it makes an annoying beeping sound.

If you're looking for a solid coin counter, but this, you won't be disappointed.
